Aha... first time I see this post... this is relating to the cam gears thread. Would it be advisable to change both the cam gears AND the crank pulley to get the full benefits of changing the cam gears? They are related items in terms of determining the engine performace; correct me if I am wrong.

Aha... first time I see this post... this is relating to the cam gears thread. Would it be advisable to change both the cam gears AND the crank pulley to get the full benefits of changing the cam gears? They are related items in terms of determining the engine performace; correct me if I am wrong. Not related all together. Cam gears are driven by the timing sprocket on the crank shaft, behind the crank pulley. Crank pulley is to drive the accessories, and the belt to drive those parts are not the timing belt. Tuners are recommending a change in both the pulley and the gears because changing the cam gears require the removal of the crank pulley. Do both at once can save on workmanship charges. However, certainly, both work in a different ways in improving the engie power band, and both work well together. So why not? i heard tat changing pully will void the warranty..duno its true or not~ True but only a possibility. What warranty on the original crank pulley do we have? None. What warranty on the belt do we have? None. So, what warranty are we voiding by replacing the pulley? Anyway, engine modification is not a chapter for those considering the factory warranty. So to speak. Don't modify if you are so concerned about it. True?

Tech question. I thinking to change both crank pulley and cam gears at once but is that changing the cam gears will give any improvement if my engine not using hi-cam shaft? Or should ask on tis way, is that changing the cam gears without changing the degree of the gears will give any improvement to the engine?

The answer is: "No improvement at all if the degree/timing is not changed." BUT, this topic is about lightened crank pulley, that's plug & play and no tuning required. Improvement is instant, due to reduced parasitic load on the engine.

Why? Friend, anything you do to your engine 'can' be an excuse to void the warranty. Those are service centers which are trying to get away from responsibility. Get what I mean?
Infact, there's no warranty for that bearing as it's a wear & tare item to be replaced periodically.
If you ask me again, I will still insist that replacing a lightened crank pulley, particularly a dampened version like Mythelogy, SHOULD NOT cause accessive wearing on the tensioner bearing.
Lastly, warranty issue should be discussed in some other sections.
